Victims of domestic violence needs your support #purplesunflower2019
I am fundraising for victims of domestic violence in support of the Canadian Women’s Foundation. On Sunday, April 28th, 2019, I will be running The Big Sur Marathon in California without training for it: Victims of domestic violence do not train their bodies to take a hit nor do they train their bodies to recover from one. I am passionate about this because a beautiful, successful woman that I know was viciously attacked by her former husband leaving her with an acquired brain injury and low mobility. She is Purplesunflower (for safety reasons her name cannot be published) and she inspires, humbles and makes me challenge myself to be a better person every day. To witness her everyday struggles that she never had prior to her attack is heart wrenching, and gives power to why we all need to find a way to ensure that the two words, domestic violence, should never have to be written side by side. We have to find ways to better manage our anger, frustration, jeolaousy, control, manipulating actions so that it never gets to the point where we think, want and actually harm another person.
Yes this is crazy, to do a marathon without training, but I am in decent physical shape and the power of Purplesunflower’s journey has me mentally prepared. I have no running watch, no music I listen to or on any special diets. Purplesunflower and all victims of domestic violence deserve to be empowered to live their life and because of the situation placed upon them, this is not easy to do. Together, let’s stop domestic violence.
The Canadian Women’s Foundation is Canada’s public Foundation for Women & Girls. They empower women and girls in Canada to move out of violence, out of poverty, and into confidence and leadership. Since 1991, they have invested in over 1,500 community programs across Canada.
You can also help stop the violence, end poverty, and empower girls by making a donation in support of my fundraiser.
Thank you for your support!
